Much like the rest of Asia, Bali experiences an extremely wet and intense rainy season. As one would expect, the weather becomes moderate in October and lasts for an average of eight days, with only a few intense rainstorms. Things begin to get worse after November You can expect an abundance of heavy and frequent rain during the monsoon season’s peak from December through February. This is the highest point of Bali’s monsoon season. However, this can be scattered throughout the day, it is nearly never always. It’s pretty unlucky to have an entire day of heavy rain, however, this is Southeast Asia, and anything can occur weather-wise. HOW IS THE MONSOON SEASON IN BALI? Bali’s monsoon isn’t as bad as some people believe it is. There is plenty of rain however, it’s not constant rain, so if you’re traveling to Bali, then you can wander around with minimal interruption. Because it’s the wet season, that doesn’t mean that your plans aren’t! Fewer tourists are visiting the nice island. If you get caught in a downpour during your Bali trip (which is likely), there’s usually a small warung or cafe to take a dip and sit down. Or, you can pull out your life-saving bright yellow or blue rainproof poncho and continue moving along. However, even during the driest times of Bali’s rainy seasons, the days will be extremely hot and humid. It’s typically cloudy or has occasional sunny days that will dry things out and heat things off, although only for a short time. After the constant bouncing of sun and rain outdoor activities can get quite uncomfortable, so relax on a beach to cool down in the water or, at the very least, in an area with air conditioning or an indoor pool. If you’re in Bali during the dry season, it’s not unusual to experience travel disruptions caused by flash floods or landslides. Due to the sudden influx of water, debris could be washed up on the beaches of Bali. It’s a unique event, but one that could ruin your holiday. The infrastructure in Bali is a bit shabby in the areas outside of the major towns and cities; therefore, it is important to heed the advice of locals, perhaps the hotel receptionist, or your car rental or scooter agency. If severe weather is on the horizon, it’s likely to be the topic of conversation. If you’re planning outdoor activities, make sure you consider a remote location such as Bali since the weather is extremely unpredictable. Since it’s the season of rain, it is also one of the driest seasons in Bali. In comparison to the peak season, the island is quieter and there are fewer crowds to contend with. There are usually fantastic bargains on flights and accommodations. You may even find one of the most luxurious private pools in Bali at less than the typical cost! Another benefit of visiting during the rainy season in Bali is the amount of rainfall, which means that the greenery is lush and the waterfalls are powerful. Just as long as you’re willing to be subjected to a few storms and downpours. The fact is, witnessing extreme weather is part of the excitement of exploring an island that is remotely located in Southeast Asia, right? Although you may be unable to lay at the beach under the scorching sun and get the most perfect tanning, the temperatures are well into the 20s, so you’ll still be able to enjoy an unforgettable and enjoyable vacation during the low season. How Can You Improve Your Travel Experience During the Worst Time to Visit Bali? 1. Be Flexible The weather in Bali is well-known for its unpredictable weather at the most favorable of times, and even in the rainy seasons. If you’re planning a Bali trip during this time of the year, it is important to be flexible in your plans because you don’t know when a storm or downpour could strike. You don’t know when you’ll need to delay or alter your plans! 2. Pack or Purchase Appropriate Clothing If you’re planning to visit Bali during the rainy season, be sure to pack appropriately. Waterproof jackets, small umbrellas, and bags are the best items to have in your bag; however, at a minimum, you must have an unrefillable rainponcho, which is available at most stores in Bali. They fold away into a tiny space and can be tucked away in your bag under your scooter’s seat or even inside your pockets if large enough. Plan Ahead Bali’s weather is difficult to predict, which is why it’s not a great idea to know the forecast for the weather a few days before departure. In that regard, before leaving for work or even when I wake up, I take a look at the forecast to see what the weather is likely to be like for the day.
